Ingredients

Servings: 4
Makes: 12
For the gram flour
  dried chickpeas, as needed, enough to make 100 g gram flour

For the onions
2  onions
  cold water, as needed

For the batter
0.5 tsp gluten-free baking powder
0.5 tsp chilli powder
0.5 tsp turmeric
1  green chilli pepper
1 tsp salt
100 ml cold water

To finish
  vegetable oil, as needed


Instructions

STEP 1/6

Peel and finely slice the onions.
Deseed and finely chop the chilli.

STEP 2/6

Fit the Grain Mill attachment to the machine.
Adjust the setting to medium grain size.
Place a medium bowl underneath the Grain Mill attachment.

STEP 3/6

Add dried chickpeas to the Grain Mill attachment.
Grind on speed Max until flour consistency and set aside.
Remove the Grain Mill attachment from the machine.

STEP 4/6

Add sliced onions and water into a medium bowl.
Let soak for 5 minutes and drain.

STEP 5/6

Add 100 g gram flour, baking powder, chilli powder, turmeric, chilli, salt and water into a large bowl.
Mix until combined.
Add the soaked and drained onions into the large bowl.
Mix until coated.

STEP 6/6

Place a large frying pan over a medium heat.
Add oil into the pan, so it is 1 cm deep.
Heat until hot.
Carefully spoon a heaped tablespoon of the mixture into the frying pan.
Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until brown and crisp.
Remove onion bhajis from the frying pan and pat dry.
Repeat the same with the remaining batter.
