These traditional German shortbread biscuits are simple to make and look great.
Ingredients
250g Butter
100g Icing Sugar
1 pinch Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg
300g Cake Flour
150g Ground Almonds
2 tablespoons Icing Sugar
Tools
Oven
Parchment paper
Plastic wrap
Kenwood Chef
Work surface
Kenwood bowl - kenwood chef
Baking sheet - 18 x 13"
Method
Line a clean baking sheet with parchment paper
Pre-heat oven - 175°C
Attach K Beater
Add butter, icing sugar, salt and vanilla extract to the Kenwood Bowl
Mix then scrape bowl - 1 min, Speed 5
Then add egg to the Kenwood Bowl
Mix then scrape bowl - 1 min, Speed 5
Then add cake flour to the Kenwood Bowl
Mix - 1 min, Speed 1
Then add ground almonds to the Kenwood Bowl
Mix - 1 min 30 sec, Speed 1
Transfer dough to work surface
Wrap with plastic wrap
Chill in fridge - 30 min
Place the dough on a work surface
Roll the dough into small balls
Shape the balls into tapered sausage shapes and curve to make a crescent shape
Place on a lined baking tray
Bake - 15 min, 175°C
Let cool on round wire rack
Dust with icing sugar
Serve
